How Do Swiss Government Bonds Work — the mechanics
Liquidity is thinner than Treasuries or bunds. Bid-ask spreads can be wider, especially off-the-run. For many global investors the CHF currency view dominates the yield view.
CHF coupon, Confederation credit, redemption at par. Conventions follow Swiss market practice (check the specific ISIN for frequency).
Auctions and the Confederation’s issuance calendar are smaller-scale than the DMO or Treasury. Secondary liquidity is the constraint for private size.
If you do not spend francs, the bond is a currency vehicle. The coupon will not save you from a 10% CHF move.
Official sources (Switzerland)
Primary statistics and prospectuses for Switzerland are published by the issuer, not by this newsroom. The labelled links at the end of this page go to those official sites (DMO, TreasuryDirect, Finanzagentur, MEF, AFT, SNB or ECB as relevant).
Our live board is a teaching overlay: dated prints, named sources, estimated ISIN lines. It is not a replacement for the issuer’s calendar.
Viktige punkter
- CHF coupon, Confederation credit, redemption at par.
- Prices and yields change. When this site quotes them, it dates them on the live board.
- Credit of a G7 government in its own currency is not the same as a stable screen price, and not the same as a bank deposit.
FAQ
- Can I buy them from outside Switzerland?
- International brokers and some ETFs provide access. Settlement and tax depend on your jurisdiction.
