Swiss Government Bond Yields Explained
By Financial World News editorial · Educational explainer · How we source yields
CHF yields are often the lowest in the G10. That is a price of safety and of SNB policy, not a glitch.
Swiss Government Bond Yields Explained — the mechanics
A 10-year Confederation yield of 0.4% (illustrative) can still be rational if Swiss inflation and policy rates are low and the franc is a haven. Do not compare that number with a BTP yield without FX.
Swiss 10-year yields have printed near zero or below in recent cycles. That is demand for CHF safety and limited supply, not a coupon error.
Compare Swiss yields with German yields only after you admit one is CHF and one is EUR. The gap is largely FX and scarce-paper premium.
Until we have a dated official Swiss 10-year on the live board, treat any Swiss number on the ISIN table as educational snapshot.
Dated yields for this switzerland topic
The live board on this site prints official or exchange 10-year rates with the observation date on each card (Bank of England IUDMNZC, ECB Maastricht series, CBOE/Yahoo Treasury yields). Individual ISIN prices are estimated from those moves — not a dealer quote.
Illustrative round-number snapshot for education. Figures are not a live market feed. Confirm with the UK DMO, TreasuryDirect, Bundesrepublik Deutschland Finanzagentur, Italian MEF, Agence France Trésor or Swiss Confederation before acting.

Official sources (Switzerland)
Primary statistics and prospectuses for Switzerland are published by the issuer, not by this newsroom. The labelled links at the end of this page go to those official sites (DMO, TreasuryDirect, Finanzagentur, MEF, AFT, SNB or ECB as relevant).
Our live board is a teaching overlay: dated prints, named sources, estimated ISIN lines. It is not a replacement for the issuer’s calendar.
Key takeaways
- Swiss 10-year yields have printed near zero or below in recent cycles.
- Any market figure belongs next to a date and a named source (BoE, ECB, CBOE/Yahoo). If those disagree with your broker, the broker wins for trading.
- Credit of a G7 government in its own currency is not the same as a stable screen price, and not the same as a bank deposit.
FAQ
- Why so low?
- Low inflation history, SNB policy, fiscal strength and safe-haven demand for CHF assets.
